Welcome to our "Frequently Asked Questions" section. If you do not find your specific question listed below, or if it is not answered to your satisfaction, you may send us a feedback page. We will attempt to respond to you within one or two business days, and then we will consider posting your question and our response for the benefit of others. Some questions may take longer to research; we appreciate your patience. But we will attempt let you know within one or two business days if answering your question will take longer, or if we are unable to comply.

  • Is World Harvest involved in foreign adoptions?

    World Harvest’s ‘Sponsor-A-Child’ program only provides education, health and nutrition assistance to needy children in Indonesia and does not include arrangements for adoptions.

  • Can I adopt a child online?

    Yes, you can sponsor a child online today through our ‘sponsor-a-child’ page.

  • What will I get as a sponsor?

    With just $30 per month/child (only $1 a day), you will be the only sponsor of a needy child or orphan. We will connect you with a child in a loving relationship that will change his or her life - and yours! With your gift, we will be able to provide your child’s education needs including their full medical and nutritional care. Your donation and support will include

    • A folder contains information and picture of your child
    • Personal letter from your child,
    • Academic progress report card from your child, showing his/her education performance at school,
    • Christmas card from your child
    • Opportunity to correspond with your child
    • Opportunity to introduce God’s love in your child’s life
    • Opportunity to make an impact in your child’s life (change your child’s future)
    • Quarterly donation summary report
    • Donation tax deductible receipt at the end of the year

Sponsor-A-Child Sponsorship: Letters, Gifts, and Visits

  • How do I know how my sponsored child is doing at school?

    World Harvest will update you with information on how your sponsored child is doing at school every semester (twice a year). All of your sponsored child’s grades will appear on the academic progress report card that we send you.

  • Is it important to communicate with my sponsored child?

    We do encourage you to correspond with you sponsored child so you will get to know him/her. Furthermore, communicating with your sponsored child will show him/her your care, which usually encourages many of the sponsored children to study and achieve a better grade at school. In addition, your sponsored child may get to know you and pray for you as well.

  • How do I communicate with my sponsored child?

    There are several ways you can do to communicate with your sponsored child: a. Writing a letter to your sponsored child b. Writing a card to you sponsored children

    If you would like to write your sponsored child a letter or a card, you may easily do so and mail them to World Harvest office nearest to you.

    Otherwise, you may also email the letter/card to sponsor@worldharvest.cc in order to save postage fees and we’ll forward the letter/card to your sponsored child.

    Please be sure to include your sponsored child’s name and ID when you send/email your letter/card to us.

  • Can I send packages or gifts to my sponsored child?

    Yes. Please contact World Harvest before you send the gift to your sponsored child so World Harvest’s staff may be notified of package shipment and deliver it to your sponsored child properly. You may also email us at sponsor@worldharvest.cc or reach the Sponsor A Child department at World Harvest office nearest to you to notify us about the package.

    If you (USA Sponsor) wish to send packages to your sponsored child, please send them to the mailing address below along with your payment for the international shipping charges (which varies according to the size and weight of your package, please call our USA office in advance to determine the international shipping rates) and please also indicate the child's complete name and ID number on the package.

    However, we do not encourage our sponsors to give monetary gifts to their sponsored children directly. If you wish to give monetary gifts, please contact World Harvest and we’ll be glad to discuss and assist you so your monetary gifts will be delivered properly according to the needs of your sponsored child. Please note that each sponsor is responsible for the payment of the international shipping charges for their gift package to their sponored child. Please understand that we will not be able to mail your packages to your sponsored child without receiving your payment for the international shipping charges.

  • Will my sponsored child respond to the letter, card, or gifts I send?

    Yes. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your sponsored child to write you a personal thank you letter along with the pictures taken after your sponsored child receives your package.

  • What about visiting my sponsored child?

    If you would like to visit your sponsored child, please contact us by email (contact@worldharvest.cc) or by calling the World Harvest office nearest to you at least 4 months in advance and we will do our best to arrange your visit and help prepare for your trip.

    For safety purposes, it is not advisable to visit your sponsored child on your own. Therefore, if you ever wish to visit your sponsored child, we are here to help you.

  • Why haven't I received a letter from my sponsored child?

    If you haven’t received a letter from your sponsored child, there are various reasons that may have resulted in the delay:

      Many of the children being sponsored by World Harvest are still very young or slow in developing writing skills and therefore need more help writing letters.
    • Many of the children’s family tend to move without giving a notice to World Harvest staff and thus resulting in a delay in contacting the children. Sometimes, we may even lose contact with the children as a result and will not be able to obtain the letters from our sponsored children.
    • The children’s letters are collected by our field staff and then sent to our main office in Indonesia to be translated, which may take up to 1 month for all to be completed. Once they are completed, the original and translation will both be sent to you (or you may view their letters and translation through your online account).

    If you do not receive a reply from your child within approximately four months after you have written, please let us know. We will then check for you.

Sponsor-A-Child Sponsorship : Payments

  • How do I make my contribution?

    You may choose from 2 options to make your payment for your sponsored child-

    Auto-debit payment:
    For your convenience, this payment method will be the best option since you will only need to give your credit card or debit card information once, and $30 (or any other designated amount) will be automatically deducted from your account every month (usually on the 5th of every month). To sign up for this payment option, you may contact us by email, phone, or request that from our website. If you change your card information, please inform World Harvest.

    Check/Money Order payment:
    Your check or money order should be made payable to World Harvest and should include your name (the same name you use for your Sponsor A Child account), current address, and child name and ID number. World Harvest will then send you your return envelope for your next payment as soon as your check/money order is received. Please do not send in cash for your monthly payment as we do not accept Cash for payment.

  • How do I receive my contribution statement?

    If you provide World Harvest your email address when first signing up for your Sponsor-A-Child account, you will be able to view your contribution statement online by logging into your account at our website: www.worldharvest.cc. The online system has made it possible for you to access and view not only your contribution statement, but your personal profile and sponsored child profile as well. To view your contribution statement online, please log in using the email address you have provided when first signed up for your sponsorship. If you encounter any problems in accessing to your online account, please contact our U.S. office at (626)359-8500 or email: contact@worldharvest.cc and we will gladly help you.

    If you do not have an email account, you will be receiving your contribution statement only once every quarter by mail. You can always request World Harvest to send your contribution statement whenever you need it.

  • Why wasn't my latest gift on your recent statement?

    The date that our computer issued your statement is shown on the statement date line. Any gift received after this date will appear on your next month's statement. If you have already sent in your gift you may disregard the current statement that you have received.

    To request your recent contribution statement, please contact the World Harvest office nearest to you.

    Can I send more than one month's amount toward my sponsorship support?

    Your pledge gift may be prepaid quarterly, semi-annually or annually, whichever is most convenient for you. When you send gifts for more than one month, it saves you time and postage.

    Other options exist for paying for your sponsorship. Auto-Debit payment from your checking account is available to our sponsors. For more information, please contact the World Harvest office nearest to you or email: contact@worldharvest.cc.

Sponsor-A-Child : Other Questions

  • Am I the only sponsor for my sponsored child?

    Yes. World Harvest assigns only one sponsor per sponsored child. The child you're helping will have you as his/her only sponsor parent. That's why your contribution commitments, prayers, letters and support mean so much to your sponsored child. Even if you choose to sponsor a child as a family or a group, the child you help will still be relating to your family or group as his or her only sponsor. No other group or individual will be able to sponsor the child you have helped. Beside that, we do also encourage you to help support your sponsored child at least until he/she graduates from high school.

      The sponsored child will definitely receive:
    • The opportunity to receive education!
    • The opportunity to be healthy!
    • The opportunity to be put in a normal family setting (for a sponsored orphan)!

  • What is a Sponsor a Child online account?

    If you have provided World Harvest your active email address when you first sign up for the Sponsor a Child program, you will automatically receive a user name and password that enables you to log in to your Sponsor a Child account to view any of your sponsored child’s information as well as your contribution summary.

      With your Sponsor a Child account, you will be able to see:
    • the picture of your sponsored child,
    • the updated information of your sponsored child,
    • your printable contribution records (summary),
    • your sponsored child’s academic progress report card,

    • your sponsored child’s personal letter

  • How long should my child sponsorship last?

    The sponsorship will require a minimum of 1-year commitment from the sponsor parent to support the sponsored child, not only financially but in prayer as well. After one year, the sponsorship will continue unless the sponsor parent call in or email to notify and request to discontinue their commitment. However, we do strongly encourage you to contribute for the life of your sponsored child until he/she graduates from school. These children’s healthy development is crucial to the well-being of our future society. Every child deserves a Hope and a Future.
